Our review:
This is the funny and heartwarming story of Elliot Hooper , a 12 year old boy who is just trying to look after his Mum and stay out of trouble. This all comes to an end when when Virgo, a constellation from Elysium, crashes into his dung heap. Soon he is caught up in a tale of modern-day Greek Gods, hope and a karate-kicking queen.
I think this is a book with a fantasy base sprinkled with a touch of realism in Elliot's life scenarios. I love the humour about what all the gods are now doing; e.g, Zeus is a rotund, golf-playing man who keeps getting married ( and sometimes double-booking his weddings).It is really funny but tinged with sadness at the hurt of losing someone you love.
