The Unadoptables by Hana Took

EvieDunn

🍌🍌🍌🍌 We are cool bananas about this book!

Blurb:

The remarkable. The extraordinary. The brave.

Way back in the autumn of 1880, five babies are discovered at the Little Tulip Orphanage in most unusual circumstances. Those babies are Lotta, Egbert, Fenna, Sem and Milou.

The vile matron calls the children 'the unadoptables' but this talented gang of best friends know that their individuality is what makes them so special - and so determined to stay together.

When a sinister gentleman tries to get them in his clutches, the children make a daring escape across the frozen canals of Amsterdam, embarking on an adventure packed with pirate ships and puppets. But is their real home - and their real family - already closer than they realize?

Our Review:

Little Tulip orphanage isn't the place to be - especially when Matron is in charge. So the gang of five friends embark on an escapade to find their true family, but maybe they already have one?

This tale is brilliantly written and is full of characters that are funny, clever and witty. I loved travelling through the streets of Amsterdam, and I like Milou's character the most, and their schemes and plans are brilliant! This is my cup of tea and I loved reading it- its that kind of book that you can't put down !

It is not too scary, but their is a point where a ship is set alight and they are nearly drowned, which is a little bit hectic. But otherwise it's not, and the introduction is absolutely brilliant!!

I think that this is perfect for avid young readers, and would be great as a Class book to read!
