A comedian, a boy with a stammer, a human being.
Billy is a budding comedian, but he feels that he cannot express his passion with his stammer. When I read this book, I was hanging on to every word that was written. I wanted Billy to get his way so badly! It was so moving, and with every chapter I read, I wanted him to achieve his dream. Billy is afraid people will laugh at him- and they do- but people also laugh at his jokes. The book is a very good stream of consciousness; at one point Billy is telling us about an idea he has ( he was explaining that he could fake his own kidnapping to get out of school) and then the next line is 'Actually, that was not one of my best ideas.'
I enjoyed this book- and it is great for fans of 'Wonder'. Billy is actually based on Rutter's son. I am now stocked up with funny jokes and gags, as there is a joke at the beginning of every chapter.
'The Present, the Past and The Future walked into a bar.'
