Blurb:
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Kind" said the boy.
Our review:
Four characters, all from different backgrounds, all just trying to get beck home.
This is a beautiful, uplifting, heartwarming book. What I love about this is that you can dip in and out of the wonderfully illustrated pages. The whole message from the book rings out that actually, you are enough as you are, and that you are loved. We chose this book as Book Of The Month because since the second lockdown, and the chill of January, we felt that everyone needed a bit of cheering up. This book helps to show the bright side, "Is your glass half empty, or half full?", "I think I'm just grateful to have a glass." said the boy. The hand drawn images are incredible- you don't have to just read the words; you can flick through the drawings instead.
This is a lovely book, and is perfect as a gift. The introduction is a great way to get to know what the book is about, and why Mackesy wrote it- also it makes you want to take a look at the other pages. There is no real plot in the book- just a journey, physically and mentally. I would recommend this book if you don't know what to do, or you are feeling blue.
