Our review:
Leonard and his family come to live in the UK after WW2 . Leonard can’t see why he has to leave his idyllic home in Jamaica; with its ripe fruit and palm trees to climb. He has to overcome racism and discrimination when he comes to Manchester. We follow his story with sadness, joy and most importantly hope ,which despite the challenges he faces, helps him through. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It was written by the renowned poet Benjamin Zephaniah. It is based on historical events and is endorsed by Amnesty International. I would recommend it for 10+ kids.
