My family and other animals by Gerald Durrell

🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 We were absolutely bananas about this book.

Blurb:

Young Gerald Durrell didn't want to get into trouble, tried in fact to avoid it, but his attempts to study the wildlife of Corfu trouble trailed after him like a faithful dog. Of course bringing a motley crew of snakes, scorpions, birds, bats and toads into the family's villa was unlikely to ease tensions around the dinner table - especially in a household where the squabbles of siblings drowned out the chirruping of the cicadas.

Our review:

This is hilarious, heart warming and incredible. This account of Corfu is amazingly descriptive. The wonderful characters seem so realistic and there. This must be the best classic on the planet. Bad language is a problem with the family so makes it an unsuitable read for kids younger than 9. Despite that, amazing.
